Sam Marcaccini is an up-and-coming baritone, born and raised on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia and now resides in Victoria, BC with his wife Natalie.
Sam studied voice at the University of Victoria and The Victoria Conservatory of Music, taking instructional training with Selena James and collaborative pianist and vocal coach Robert Holliston. He then went on to sing in the Pacific Opera Victoria Young Artist Program, the Banff Opera Program and Opera Nuova. Sam has recently had the privilege of coaching with Gary Relyea, Theodore Baerg and Roelof Oostwoud
Upcoming performances include Faure's Requiem, Durufle's Requiem, and the title role in Dido and Aeneas. Recent performances include the role of Officer Krupke in Vancouver Opera's West Side Story, the role of Major Domo in Vanessa with Pacific Opera Victoria and Father Christmas in Canadian Composer, Dean Burry's Mummers Masque.
Other recent performances include Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, the Ferryman in Curlew River with City Opera Vancouver, Carmina Burana with the Victoria Symphony and Mozart’s Requiem with the Vancouver Island Symphony. Previous roles include Peter in Hänsel und Gretel, Frank Maurrant in Street Scene, Gianni Schicci, Norimo in The Vinedressers, Dr. Bartolo in The Barber of Seville, Doctor Grenvil in La Traviata, Count Carnero in The Gypsy Baron, Alcindoro and Benoit in La Boheme, Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro, and Count in Le Nozze di Figaro.
Sam has performed as the baritone soloist for many oratorio and concert works including Bruckner’s Utrecht Te Deum, Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, W.A. Mozart’s Dixit Dominus and Vespers, J.S Bach’s Cantata No.12, Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum, and Bruckner’s Requiem.
